Join us on Saturday, April 21 for our first Voices from the Past Cemetery Tour! Tickets available now at http://store.valleyhistory.org/index.php?dispatch=categories.view&category_id=171 Stroll through time as we explore our rich history laid to rest in Fresno’s historic Mountain View Cemetery. In this living history program, you will meet several interesting people who are buried in Fresno’s oldest cemetery. Among the characters you will encounter are Fresno County’s first doctor, Lewis Leach; Fresno’s first teacher, Mary McKenzie Hoxie; and Charles Shaver, a prominent lumber magnate and namesake of Shaver Lake. The seated presentation will begin at 10 AM in the Odd Fellows Mausoleum. Actors in period costumes will portray the historical figures as they share lively vignettes about Fresno’s pioneers. Light refreshments and a gravesite tour led by Fresno Historical Society staff to the final resting places will follow the program.
